How does a private Paint Party work?
You choose your guests, the location, and the painting we create from our painting gallery or plein air painting. We come to the location of your choosing, we set up the paint party with all paint supplies, we guide your group through the painting step-by-step if it’s a painting from our gallery or we offer loose guidance with plein air painting, we teach basic painting skills as we paint, we support each person’s creativity, we promote an inclusive and fun environment, we encourage group participation in discussion and complementing each other’s work, and at the end of the session we gather everyone for a group photo. We then clean everything up, leaving each participant with their own personally made work of art to remember the event. There’s nothing like getting together and being creative!
Children:
Children are welcome to participate in paint parties. If the child is under the age of 11 they must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Every person, no matter their age, who participates with their own paint set-up (canvas, brushes, and paint) is charged the same rate. There are no discounts for children. Often children cause more damage to our equipment than adults. Adults are welcome to share their paint set-up with a child if they would like to. Our pricing is per set-up.
Our staff:
We pride ourselves on our customer service and our compassion. We make every effort to respect you, your guests, and your space. Our staff is clean, professional, and fun. We will make sure we leave your space as we found it prior to your event (although we are not responsible for unruly guest activity). We are honored to be invited into personal spaces and vacation rentals, so we take the time to make sure the space we hold your event is as clean as we can leave it when we are finished.
Inclusiveness:
Our goal is to create an environment that is inclusive for all. All abilities, ages, colors, creeds, orientations, preferences, and backgrounds are respected at our events. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly.
Alcohol and cannabis:
We do not sell or provide alcohol or cannabis, but we welcome their legal use at our events.
Frequently asked questions:
Q. Is Cannon Beach a public place, or would I have to reserve a permit for beach use independently?
A. All beaches in Oregon are public thanks to Oregonian hero Tom McCall. We will not need a permit to paint on the beach because our group is less than 20 people and we will not be setting up any structures.
Q. In an outdoor location like the beach, can we still bring wine and/or cannabis? (Coming from out of state so unsure of the open container laws for Oregon beaches.)
A. Alcohol is illegal to consume in public in Oregon without a liquor license. It is up to the host of the party to acquire any permits needed for events at locations other than our studio. Cannabis is completely illegal to consume in public in Oregon. Both alcohol and cannabis consumption on the beach is done at your own risk.
Q. What (if any) are the fees for traveling to Cannon Beach to paint Haystack Rock?
A. Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach is within our complimentary travel area so there are no additional fees to travel to that location.
Q. Where is the best place to have my paint party on the beach to paint Haystack Rock?
A. We suggest this beach access: Cannon beach access point · 1164 Ecola Ct, Cannon Beach, OR 97110
Q. Where is the best place to park near the Haystack Rock beach access location you suggested?
A. There is public parking in Cannon Beach and you’ll end up walking about 5+ minutes to the beach from there, or you can have lunch at the Wayfarer which is right by the beach access and maybe just park there.
Q. What will the weather be like when we paint on the beach?
A. The weather is unpredictable and often cold, windy, and rainy on the Oregon Coast. We generally also experience about 80% humidity, and because we rarely get over 70 degrees, even at the heat of the day, paint can be very slow to dry without assistance of direct sunshine or an electric dryer (which is not an option when we paint on the beach). hopefully it will be beautiful and sunny out! If it does get nasty out, we have a lovely studio in Gearhart, about 20 minutes North of Cannon Beach.
