A note about this piece from the artist:<\/p>\n
Sometimes we just want to release everything inside us and surrender ourselves to the light; finding peace, tranquility, love and warmth there. That is exactly what I was needing when I painted this piece.<\/p>\n
I had what some may call one hell of a year!<\/p>\n
After the death of my mom I found it hard to pick up the pieces. So, I went to Mexico to find myself again. But I made a huge mistake. I brought some magic mushrooms with me, thinking it would help me connect with my mom on D\u00eda de<\/em> los Muertos. It wasn’t much, but it was in my luggage. Days after I was separated from my luggage due to a delay with my airline, I found out that customs confiscated the bag with the mushrooms. I then found out that I was an international drug smuggler and wanted by the Mexican Police. The lawyer I met with told me that I could either turn myself in and they would be happy to defend me, or live in Mexico forever. I chose not to take their advice, and rather to make a run for the US. I made it out of Mexico unscathed other than financially. But, the trip I took to find myself and connect with my mom was a bust. I also caught COVID while escaping Mexico. After coming home and healing from COVID, I realized that my mom was with me protecting me the whole time. I am not in a Mexican prison right now, I did not get murdered during my escape, and I am here with good health to tell my story. Thank you mom! I’ve been healing faster now that I’ve been home.
