Teaching Experience

  • Team Building Painting Instructor — Dawning’s Art on location

Students join me at their location to connect while creating. During a 3-4 hour painting lesson my students and I recreate a painting in acrylic paints. [2016 — Current]

Students join me at wineries and other entertainment facilities to enjoy some drinks and a 3 hour painting lesson. Together, my students and I, recreate a painting in acrylic paints. [2016 — Current]

Private art lessons out of my personal art studio at a sliding cost scale to people in my community. These lessons include lessons in pottery wheel throwing, ceramics hand building, painting, drawing, mixed media, upcycling, and special projects. [2011 — Current]

 

  • Ceramics Studio Faculty Casual Employee — Portland Community College

Supervising multiple day kiln firings. During kiln firings I teach PCC students how to safely handle the kiln and equipment.  I teach students to monitor temperatures of kilns and to adjust when needed. During kiln firings I am also available to students in the ceramics lab who need help or demonstrations. [2012 — 2015]

 

  • Art Instructor — 100th Monkey Art Studio

During my art therapy internship I taught classes at 100th Monkey Art Studio. I taught creative learning to children on subjects like Post Impressionism, Early Renaissance Painters, Cubism, and perspective drawing. I taught adult classes that included modern paintings using Renaissance techniques, and paper quilling. [2014 — 2015]

Liberal Arts Bachelor Degree


During my education at Oregon State University I focused on Studio Art such as ceramics, painting, photography, and drawing. I also focused on writing, literature, communications and psychology.

100th Monkey Art Studio
6 Month Internship


At 100th Monkey Art Therapy Studio, I worked with many different therapeutic groups. Weekly there would groups of children, adults, adults with disabilities, and delinquent young adults using art as a way to express/focus feelings and thoughts. My job was to be supportive, to help when artistic help was needed, and to encourage expression.
